Marlene Gongora
BS, CPT
Marlene was born and raised in Gainesville, Georgia. She has always been fascinated by the movement and function of the human body. Her early experiences with sports and physical therapy ignited a desire within her to understand and improve the human body’s capabilities. Marlene’s journey began with her love for soccer and running, instilled in her by a sports-loving family. These activities not only shaped her physically but also fostered a deep appreciation for quality of movement and physical well-being.
When faced with a hamstring injury in high school, Marlene’s time in physical therapy sparked a newfound interest in helping others recover and improve their health. Her decision to pursue a bachelor’s degree in exercise science at Georgia State University was a natural progression of her interests. While studying part time and working full time, Marlene quickly learned that balance is key, and this applies to health and fitness as well. By combining her academic pursuits with practical training and real-world experience, Marlene has carved out a unique path in the field of exercise science.
Marlene’s adaptability and resilience were put to the test when the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted traditional gym settings. Rather than being deterred, she seized the opportunity to start her online personal training business after leaving her previous personal training position. This initiative not only allowed her to continue helping clients achieve their fitness goals but also showcased her entrepreneurial spirit and creativity in adapting to challenging circumstances.
Marlene’s dedication to learning and growing in her field is evident in her pursuit of certifications in Personal Training through NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine) and Exercise Physiology through ACSM (American Council of Sports Medicine). Today, Marlene’s passion for health and well-being shines as bright as ever. Her life revolves around fitness, family, yoga, running, good movies, and finding the best patio to eat with friends. As Marlene continues to grow and evolve in her career, one thing remains clear – her unwavering commitment to helping others live healthier, more fulfilling lives through movement and exercise.
