Jake Burkhardt
BS, CSCS, CPT
Jake has a fascinating career history in sports and fitness, which happens to include more than three decades of experience as a competitive athlete. He began his sports career, like many young men do, playing (American) Football in high school. Jake was talented, and worked very hard to achieve the best possible level of personal fitness. At the University of Dayton, Jake held the position of starting Linebacker for three years. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Education, he kept his interest in fitness and sports alive by joining a recently formed rugby football team in Cincinnati. If you think American Football is a demanding sport, realize out that Rugby Football is played on a larger field for two 40-minute periods of non-stop play, requiring players to attain a much higher level of conditioning. Jake excelled at rugby, soon scoring a position on the U.S. National Team (Eagles) and played internationally for a number of years.
Jake has always believed in working to promote the best practices in strength development, conditioning, and athletic performance through proper fitness training by educated professional trainers and coaches. In fact, he was one of the original seventy-six charter members of the NSCA (National Strength and Conditioning Association) when it was formed in 1978. Now, an international organization of over 30,000 members, it remains one of the most well respected fitness certifying organizations.
In his corporate career, Jake worked tirelessly to build, strategize, manage, and promote sales on behalf of fitness equipment manufacturers and fitness consulting firms through various positions of leadership. Now, Jake has returned to his first love of sports conditioning and personal training. As a member of the Catalyst Fitness team of exceptionally trained, educated and certified fitness professionals, Jake will impress you with his ability to motivate, educate, and communicate with you, to help you reach each and every one of your fitness goals. Be sure to take advantage of his wealth of experience, knowledge and training to enhance your level of health and performance.
